雅思口语Part 3 的拓展问题和答案如下:
Choosing Work
1. What kind of work do young people not want to do in your country?
Well, in my country, jobs that don’t seem to gain much respect from other people are not usually so popular with young people, such as a hairdresser, a cleaner or a delivery person. And also some not well-paid jobs are not interesting to young people either, such as a textile worker, an office staff or a reporter.
2. Who is best at advising young people about choosing a job: teachers or parents?
Well, I think it is parents who are best at giving suggestions to young people when it comes to choosing a job. Because parents are usually the people who know their kids well, which means they know both strengths as well as weaknesses of their kids in terms of professional knowledge and personal interests. Therefore, they can provide more rewarding suggestions to guarantee a higher possibility of a career success for their kids.
3. Is money always the most important thing when choosing a job?
Absolutely not. Money is undoubtedly one important factor we all take into consideration when choosing a job. However, I personally think interest plays a more important role because we won’t be so passionate about what we do if we are not interested in our jobs, and without passion, I don’t think we are able to perform well in what we do.
Work-life Balance
1. Do you agree that many people nowadays are under pressure to work longer hours and take less holiday?
Sure, it is obvious that many people, especially young people are now working under great pressure because they live in a rather competitive society, meaning each of them is faced with a high possibility of being replaced by other competitors. Besides, some of them have families to feed. Speaking of holidays, I believe many people are afraid of taking holidays as they are often required to complete assigned work before deadlines, and sadly some of them don’t even have any long holidays at all.
2. What is the impact on society of people having a poor work-life balance?
Well, the fact that people suffer from a poor work-life balance can cause a tremendous impact on society. For instance, when a person works too long hours and does not have any time for his or her family, it increases the possibility of divorce, and a higher divorce rate isn’t good for social stability. Another example will be that people working under great pressure and not being able to spend quality time with family will probably fail to perform well as they don’t get the rest and relaxation they need from their families, and this will cause low efficiency at work. Consequently, it will affect the overall development of society.
