「思路」
Q:
What bad habits may students have?
A:
1) Students may show little response to the lecturer because they are reluctant to interact.
2) They may have no desire to exchange ideas with their peers.
3) Some of them do not listen to understand during the class but spend all of the time taking notes and review the notes after the class.
4) Some students procrastinate and do not start doing their assignments until the last day or the last few hours before the deadline.
5) There may be a number of other bad habits.
Q:
What are the reasons behind those bad habits?
A:
1) Some students may have no idea of what good habits are.
2) Many others may be just slothful or indolent even though they know they should not be like that.
3) Some of the habit have been stubborn and the students do not have an open mind to making a change.
4) There may be a number of other reasons.
As we are aware of what the bad habits are and the reasons behind them, we may consider whether a course could help them make a change.

Introduction
Some university students have poor study habits, and their academic performance is poor as a result. Since this needs to be changed, there is a proposal that universities should require students to take courses about developing good study habits. In fact, this proposal may bring desired effects for a number of reasons.
Body
个理由纯粹说理。
(什么时候可以纯说理?当理由比较简单易懂的时候。)
The optimistic view is firstly based on the tested and widely practiced theory of “21 days to develop a habit”. According to the theory, a habit forms within 21 consecutive days, and this rule applies to fostering a good habit. The course can span 21 days in a row, and even be repeated until participants successfully develop the desired habits. This may be a rather simple reason but makes the proposal worth trying.
第二个理由主要靠举例。
(当理由比较抽象难懂或者实在无话可说的时候,举例是必须的。)
Some of the poor habits are not yet stubborn, and students with those habits can change as long as there are effectual instructions and close supervision. For instance, procrastination is a commonplace among many students. Fortunately, for some of them, this problem is at the early stage, and, in other words, there is still time for a change. The course would therefore intervene and interrupt the development as early as possible. In addition, the course provides clear instructions students can follow and close supervision under which students’ likely retrogression may be stopped. In short, if attending the course can prevent the habit from deteriorating, it is desired and certainly should be required.
还有可能第三个理由有说理有举例。

Conclusion
At many universities, students’ poor study habits have adverse effects particularly in their academic performance. If this needs to change, universities may need to require all of their students to take a course on fostering good study habits.
